Ranger Star Ship 01
The Ranger Class scout FTL ship.
Here we have a few of the basic design sketches.
The
main body is a big rectangle, 3 levels of 10 ft in height, about 200 ft
long and 30 ft wide, all wrapped in an outer hull about 5 ft wide that
provides space for utility pipes conduits and equipment.
As
the sketch below shows the Hyper engines are located on the wing tips,
while 4 real space engines are close in too the main body. The wing is
mostly a full level high and will contain various fuel and storage
tanks.
The next drawing gives a slightly better view of the ship in perspective.
Notice
the dome in the traditional "bridge" position, it is actually a simple
observation area not a command post. Also on the back of the ship are
visible the cargo pod doors and a fin that contains various sensor and
communications equipment.
The Ranger class construction program began in 2014, first star flight was 2015.

At
the front and aft are marked in the various maneuvering thrusters.
Next to them are the pop-out turrets for the point defense guns, their
positions can bring 2 guns to target any incoming object.
Also notable on the sketch is the escape pod port and below it, under the wing the air lock door.
The Technical Plans
The Ranger is 215ft long, with a main body of 45ft wide & high, the total wing span is 155ft
It has a flight crew of 6 and a mission crew of 4.
The Ion drives can give 1G of acceleration.
The Fusion drives can give up to 8G
The Hyper engines, original were 1LY/week later update 1LY / day.
There is a top and bottom cargo pod able to carry 40 tons each.
Usually one pod is devoted to food and supplies for scout missions.
There are 2 escape pods, on the crew deck. Also the ship can carry 1 shuttle.
Fuel, air & water supplies can last for 1 year of regular operations.
The Ranger has good atmosphere performance and can land even if main power is out.
