Welcome Home

The Repatriation

In 2026 a ship arrived unexpectedly near Earth. The UN-EDF having set zones for Human ships returning home to exit hyperspace, all other exit points are highly suspect and trigger a lot of alarms.  On this day a pair of patrolling Percheron craft were surprised when a "flying saucer" jumped in started heading right at them.

It was a ship similar to those used by the Grays, who were not exactly hostile but at the same time not very welcome.  More to the point there was no official relations between them and us, all dealings thus far had been with factions of Grays acting on their own initiative. So the Percheron captain hailed the alien craft, hoping he would not be the one to start an interstellar war. The response was in good clear English. Because the entire crew of the alien ship were all Humans. After a brief conversation and a call to EDF-HQ, the flying saucer was invited to land at moon base Alpha before it would be allowed on Earth.

The ship was named Frisbee and its crew were all Humans who had been recruited by the Grays to fight in their war with the Lobstron.  Some of them having been born off world, never knew what normal "earthling life" was like.  The captain was Mary Rogson, a woman in her late 60s, who had been taken as a teenager, back in 1977. She said "My people deserve to see Earth, the place we tell so many stories about. Then they can each make their own choice if they want to stay or go."

In her debriefing, Mary explained that the Grays did not kidnap people, they took willing volunteers. Although some of them were of questionable sanity to begin with. Most were young and dumb who wanted adventure. Some were older and disillusioned with life.  All were promised good treatment and riches if they would risk their lives to fight the horrible Lobster-men.  The Grays were rather manipulative, secretive and often arrogant, but they did keep their promises. As far as she knew.

"For almost 100 years the Grays had been recruiting humans, mostly using them in the army, because they did not want us learning too much about how to operate their advanced tech. But as the war started to go badly for them, the Grays began making humans fighter pilots.  They did not want us learning enough to steal on of their star-ships, which is exactly what we did." she explained with out remorse.

The UN had all Mary's people interviewed and medically scanned before allowing them down to earth. There were 88 in total, including a dozen kids. While there were on the moon, investigations were conducted to find any living relatives on Earth so that reunions could be arranged, if desired. The Frisbee itself was inspected by a tech team. The question of its ownership was left unaddressed.

To make a complicated story brief, most of Mary's people visited Earth like tourists and only a few chose to stay. The rest ended up talking with Mr. Defren of the H-H-C, colonization director.  A deal was made that they would provide information and assistance regarding the Grays in exchange for help setting up a colony on one of the new worlds. Also that they would retain ownership of the Frisbee, but a tech team would have long term access to study it.

Publicly everything worked out fine. But behind closed doors at the UN there was a lengthy debate over the entire matter. A lot of unanswered questions were on the table. The one thing that stood out most, was the fact that no formal relations had ever been made with the Grays. That would have to change soon.
